Gazing
While applying the dots, I could enjoy contemplating on many thoughts, getting lost in the process, or being surprised by the forms developed by themselves.
But I relish the time gazing at the wood grain that are enhanced by the stained oil colors, even before I start putting any marks.
It gives me a great deal of inspiration by staring into the space created by those waves of grain.
It feels as if I am painting with the wood, instead of painting on the wood.
いろいろな事を想ったり、無心になってのめり込んでいったり、途中で出来てきた形に驚かされたり、点を打ちながらの作業はなかなか面白い。
しかし、点を打ち始める前に、板目に何層かの絵の具を染込ませ、より鮮明に現れてくる木目を眺めている時間も好きである。
じっと見ていると不思議な空間が広がってきて、制作意欲が刺激される。
板に描くというよりも、板と一緒に描くという気持ちになってくる。
