板に描く作品と平行して和紙に描く作業もしている。
この和紙は実家のある群馬県桐生市で昔ながらの技法をもちい手漉きで和紙を作っているＨ氏からいただいた。
繊維が長く非常に丈夫な和紙で、色も綺麗なのでもう長いこと使わせてもらっている。
直接、墨や水彩絵の具を使うと滲み方がすごいので最初の頃は戸惑ったこともあったが、細い筆でこうして点を置いていくと滲みをかなり押さえることができる。
板に描く時とまた違った気持ちで向かい合えるので、これからも続けていきたい。
I'm also working with Japan paper, as well as working with the wood panels.
This particular Japan paper was hand made by Mr. H who has been preserving a traditional paper making in a town I grew up in Japan.
Not only it has very long wooden fibers which make it quite durable, but also this paper has a beautiful warm tone to it.
When you use Sumi ink or water color on it, it blurs lot more than other papers because of the long fibers.
But applying small dots like this, you could control the blurriness much better.
It has been a pleasure working with this paper for many years.
And I'm enjoying the change of a pace, using a different material.
