Thoughts From A Studio

色が人に与える影響というものは面白い。
例えば、赤が与えるメッセージの一つに危険というものがある。
これは血の色がそうであり、信号機や車のブレーキの赤もただ偶然に赤ではないとおもう。
不思議なのは赤が伝えるのは危険だけでなく、強く惹きつける魅力を持った赤もあるようだ。赤い花、女性の纏う赤い口紅、夕焼けの赤にも人は見入ってしまう。
ここで赤と簡単に書いているが、赤の中にも実に幅の広い表情がある。

ひとつの言葉で簡単に色を表すだけではなく、その表情としっかり付き合っていきたいと思う。

It's interesting to see what kind of influence the colors give to us.
For example, one of the message we get from red is a sign of danger. Like the color of blood, it's not just a coincident that the traffic light or the blake lights are red. It gives us an alarming sense. But puzzling thing is that red is not always associated with dangers either. It has a strong alluring effect as well. Red flowers, red lipsticks, red sky at a sunset, we are attracted to those bright red too.
From a danger to an attraction, the red has a very wide range of hue and expressions.

I'd like to feel the color as much as I can instead of just calling it with a simple word.

信号機や自動車は西洋発祥のものですが、日本では（中国でも？）「赤」は魔物を遠ざける効果があると考えられている、と聞いたことがあります。女性の腰巻きや赤フンなどは汚れが目立たないとかいうことよりも魔物除けの効果を狙っているとか。
毎回楽しみにしています。

なるほど、魔除けの色というのも面白いですね。
そういえば、鳥居が赤いのもそのへんから来ているのかもしれませんね。
文化圏によって色に対しての感性が違っていたり、あるいは共通点があったりというのはとても興味があります。
